If Coronavirus Mutations Come Roaring Back, Will Americans Listen—Much Less Survive?

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Americans are angry.  Brits are angry.  Others around the world are angry that the deadly Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted their lives and killed their loved ones and friends, and hurt so many others physically, psychologically and economically.[2]

By nature, Americans are not a patient people, and they rebel when rules are shoved down their throats, much less rules that they deem unfair and unjust.  They take umbrage at authority, especially when they deem it to be wielded unjustly.

For example, the G7 just concluded its meetings at the Tregenna Castle Resort in Cornwall on the west coast of Britain.[3]  There was no social distancing or the wearing of masks by the leaders of the nations that were represented.  Yet, the “Delta variant” or mutation of the Coronavirus is emerging, which may kill or hurt even more globally.

Lots of Americans have been vaccinated.  Now they are being told that such vaccinations may not be enough to shield them from the mutations, and that more vaccinations and lockdowns and rules may be required.  Still others refused be be vaccinated from Day One, and they are effectively saying: “I told you so.”

Americans are traveling again with a vengeance, and releasing pent-up frustrations and anger.  What will happen if the “Delta variant” or some other mutation bites, and bites big time?  Like the ancient Fable about “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” will Americans even listen?[4]  And this is true regardless of one’s color, ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.

China unleashed the Coronavirus, either inadvertently or as a bioweapon; and since then, it has spread worldwide with devastating effects, which have not run their course.  China’s Communist rulers seek global domination by the end of this decade; and the destruction of the United States—and its political, social and economic fabric—is part of their strategy.[5]

Lastly, missing from Xi Jinping’s and Mao Tse-tung’s China and Vladimir Putin’s Russia and Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union and so many other totalitarian regimes is a belief and trust in God.  The forces of evil in the world today share that one common thread—which is the polar opposite of what undergirds and has defined the United States and its people.[6]

See https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-9713717/Indian-Delta-variant-accounts-FIFTH-new-COVID-19-cases-US.html (“Indian ‘Delta’ variant now accounts for 20% of all new COVID cases in the US: Dr. Fauci warns the new strain is the greatest threat to defeating the pandemic”)

This is the latest. The “Delta variant” is potentially very serious, and cannot be taken lightly. Yet, I understand fully that Dr. Fauci is not trusted by many; and they scoff at the need to take any vaccine at all.

America is a Secular Nation ?

The traditional (historical) synonym of Congress is: “The Temple of Democracy”. Senator Charles Schumer directly referred to this reference by claiming the mob which broke into the Capital on Jan. 6 “Desecrated Our Temple” (Congress). Wait a minute here.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, an ordained United Methodist minister from Missouri, also mentioned the Hindu god Brahma while praying at the opening of Congress on Jan. 4, 2021. Congress speaks for and is the voice of the people, acting as our formal, official representatives in a wide range of subjects and issues, including religious issues.

Congressmen and Senators are in leadership positions, so they set an example, be it good or bad. In this instance, if we are a ostensibly a Christian nation, they set quite an example and not a good one- unless like old Israel worshiping Baal, ( before the destruction of Solomon’s Temple) is considered acceptable by the people. It sure was not acceptable before God, then or now. Evidently, most Americans did not notice because of the ongoing debate about electoral vote counts under then V.P. Mike Pence.

Here is a picture of the Idol we worship through our elected representatives at opening “prayer”:

Decline and Fall of Religion in America (1938-2020):

And we expect God’s Blessings given other public policies and court decisions ? ( Supreme Court: Gay Marriage Legitimacy, Roe v. Wade and countless aborted children, right up to the moment of birth today).

No, we are not a religious people any longer, as exemplified by regular church attendance ( below 50% for the first time ever). Contemporary America is largely unchurched and not informed as to the Bible or even the Ten Commandments, which many disbelieve as not suited to our times. The problem then is a lack of understanding and wisdom. We will pay for it too, if we are not already paying a price, as we continue to disintegrate socially.

Thank you, Craig. I have missed your pithy, thought-provoking comments. I have been posting at Facebook, because it is easier to do from a 5G phone. 😊

As I have written in earlier articles, Washington, D.C. is swamp with little or no morality, which is why I got my kids out of the area when they went to college. I had seen enough to turn my stomach; and I grew up in Hollywood/LA, which has the morality of Harvey Weinstein, Roman Polanski, Bill Cosby and so many others.

Church attendance has fallen dramatically because of China’s Coronavirus, which has devastated houses of worship. But China’s Communist rulers are celebrating, because they have seemingly destroyed the pillars of America’s democracy.

Let’s hope the pendulum swings, and the Godless foes of America’s greatness are dispatched. And that includes Barry Obama, who never lived in the continental U.S. until he attended Occidental College in LA, where he admits that he was a druggie.

Upon reflection, one cannot simply fault Congress alone for our Nation’s many shortcomings, as they follow many of the same trends as everybody else. ( Govt. almost NEVER leads ). However, it’s a bit more than simply a drifting to the Left. It’s not aimless but rather intentional and at the very top ( Academia, media, government, “woke” corporations, etc.) intentional, as well.

As a result, we find ourselves gradually adopting a different value system or framework to the traditional Biblical World View ( since the Reformation).
Western Democracies now are increasingly practicing syncretism ( cut and paste religion, or ” cherry picking” those ideas or values make the most sense). Communism does not tolerate an equal in the public square (churches) and must dominate all aspects of one’s life. Historically, they never stop or compromise for long until they own it all.

Theologian Dr. Thomas Shaffer wrote back in the 1970’s: “If there is no standard by which to judge society then society is absolute.” As we are finding out the hard way how true this insightful statement turned-out to be, it takes time to become relevant. Thus, instead of a King, we have some 52 Governors and even more big city Mayors who too often view their office as a personal fiefdom to issue edicts, exploit their position at the taxpayers’ expense ( Modern Monetary Theory or MMT), regardless of legal precedent of even constitutionality. ( The “go ahead and sue me attitude” of our many potentates in office)

More and more every day, Americans have fewer and fewer shared (core) values. We are increasingly divided along religious lines, political lines, income lines (inequality), ethnic lines, class lines, and now, Covid as well. So, I view this as a form of social disintegration. It’s a political environment ripe for more power grabs by our elected officials too.

Actually, I believe the gradual secularization of America has been a work-in-progress for over 100 years, or ever since America became a industrialized economy and largely an urban culture, as contrasted with a pre-1900 rural Economy and culture. We became a very prosperous and affluent nation; and it seemingly went to our heads, as if on a Friday night graduation bender.

Now, we are entering the 4th Generation of a political trend, which actually began in 1933 with President FDR and his many Depression Era (Socialist) government programs, as well as the addition of a Federal income tax some twenty years earlier by the “Progressives” under President Woodrow Wilson.

So, I view all these social and political trends as a continuum of sorts, not a single event. Currently, we are in the 7th inning of the game, not the second inning, as Dr. Thomas Sowell often likes to say. Traditional America remains at grave risk, along with our individual freedoms and our liberties. We need to become more vigilant or risk being collectively reduced to a kind of low-level serfdom. History shows manumission comes AFTER the third generation of serfs.

Keen insights and observations, Craig. Thank you.

I will not attempt to parse your comments and conclusions, other than to say that your “snapshot” of America today may or may not result in its “death knell.” The pendulum swings. 😊

The new geopolitical status-quo is obviously inherently dangerous and unstable. Eventually, It has to break one way or the other. If we let our guard down anywhere in the world, be it Asia, Crimea, or in the Middle East, we could be in for a nasty surprise (sic. war). If caught off-guard, then the risk of a lucky punch or K.O. is not entirely out-of-the-question. ( Its not zero).

Thank you, Craig, for your comments.

I agree except for the Middle East. We were achieving energy independence under Trump, which meant we should have no more interests in the region. Cut it loose, and let it implode, and see who survives.

With Creepy Joe having terminated the Keystone Pipeline, we may be dependent on Middle East oil again, which would thrust us back into the sewer.

Like Gulliver and the Lilliputians, we may be tied down and weakened; and war may be a tragic byproduct.

See https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9743653/Chinas-celebrates-centenary-Communist-Party-anniversary-British-handover-Hong-Kong.html (“China threatens its enemies with ‘broken heads and bloodshed’ in thinly veiled swipe at US as President Xi boasts of Communist Party bringing ‘order’ to Hong Kong on party’s 100th anniversary”)

China’s Communist rulers lead by Xi Jinping are a global menace. They have effectively snuffed out Hong Kong’s fledgling democracy; they have enslaved approximately 1 million ethnic minorities including the Uyghurs; they have used EMP weapons in their border war with India to “fry” its soldiers; and they may move on Taiwan in the not-too-distant future.

Their goal of achieving global domination by the end of this decade is no longer disguised, or a fantasy. The Coronavirus pandemic, coupled with Creepy Joe Biden’s American presidency, makes that possible.
