America Is Lawless

19 06 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

In the latest example, a twenty-six-year-old man slashed a teenager at a subway station; choked a woman in a hotel; and attacked a volunteer in a church bathroom during his fourteen-day crime spree.  He had been arrested and released five times in New York City before finally being detained on rape charges in Baltimore, Maryland.[2]

This lawlessness didn’t happen overnight.  It has been building, in our large cities and all across our great nation.  In San Francisco—which so many of us have loved, and where some of us have worked—perhaps the senseless killing of Kate Steinle at Pier 14 on the city’s waterfront drove it home for us.  Her killer was an illegal alien who had been deported five times from the sanctuary city.[3]

I testified as an expert witness in that city, and walked another lawyer from our hotel to the BART subway station so he could catch a train to the airport for his flight back to Los Angeles. Both of us were wearing business suits and ties; and I was carrying my laptop. I don’t recall being apprehensive like I was that day, as I walked back to the hotel through or near drug-infested homeless encampments, realizing that I was easy prey; and that it was unlikely anyone would help me if I needed it.

Stores are robbed in San Francisco and other American cities in broad daylight, and no one stops it.  Indeed, it is accepted as the “cost of doing business”—or the stores close down, having been hurt already by the Coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.  And who can forget what the thugs, slugs, hoods and mongrels of “Black Lives Matter,” Antifa and other far-Left groups have done, without suffering any serious consequences.

They burned our cities; killed or hurt innocent Americans including our police; and destroyed black and other businesses.  Thugs like George Floyd have been lionized.  No wonder police and other members of law enforcement have resigned, or taken early retirements.  Why place their lives at risk, while being hated by those whom they are sworn to protect?[4]  Perhaps the latest example involves an illegal alien who shot at police in a 100-mile-per-hour chase, and who has been deported seven times.[5]

The solutions seem obvious.  Empower law enforcement to do their jobs, and give them adequate funding.  Dispense with woke notions of helping the criminal, instead of protecting America against criminals.  Get rid of woke judges and politicians who do nothing to protect us.  And do what the Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, did in turning around that cesspool.  Clearly, a major economic downturn and increased homelessness, and global strategic challenges will only exacerbate these issues.[6]

Are We Heading Toward The Great Depression II And World War III?

16 06 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Is a maelstrom headed our way, the likes of which most Americans have never experienced in their lifetimes—or even close to it—unless they are or have been homeless?[2]  Are the United States and other countries heading toward far worse than the “Great Recession” of 2007-2009[3], and something approaching the Great Depression of the 1930s, coupled with World War III?[4]

Are these the “gifts” that Joe Biden, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping are bequeathing to the world?  Like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-tung, will this be their legacy[5], especially after China launched the deadly Coronavirus pandemic that has hurt so many, physically, economically and psychologically, and weakened the West?  Again, Americans may not have any earthly idea what is heading their way, much less how to cope with it.

The Middle East, much of Africa and other parts of the world have lived with wars, abject poverty and hopelessness far more than most Americans have, even recent immigrants to our great nation.  But nothing can prepare anyone for a convergence of the Great Depression II and World War III.  It is unfathomable, as it should be.  Where is God in the midst of so much suffering and chaos, which is a fair and reasonable question to ask?[6]

World War III

12 06 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Some of us have lived through World War II, the Korean War, our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and “minor skirmishes” such as John F. Kennedy’s “Bay of Pigs” fiasco in Cuba.[2]  In the tony area of Los Angeles called Brentwood, just up the street from where O.J. Simpson killed his wife Nicole and Ron Goldman, my elementary school classmates and I went through mock nuclear attack drills.  We had to hide under our school desks and cover our heads, to protect ourselves against “falling debris” from Soviet attacks that thankfully never came.

Growing up a mile or so west of the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, my first and only childhood memories of World War II were of giant searchlights—like those used at Hollywood movie premieres—scanning the skies for Japanese aircraft.  Was this an overreaction?  The fact is that a Japanese submarine shelled the Santa Barbara oilfields at Ellwood, just north of today’s UCSB college campus.[3]

Now, in a country that few Americans knew anything about, Russia’s KGB-trained killer Vladimir Putin’s thugs have destroyed much of Ukraine, and have raped and tortured Ukrainian women, and subjected Ukrainians to barbarism not seen in Europe since World War II.  Many forget that when his Soviet antecedents entered Berlin at the end of that war, they raped an estimated 2 million German women.  A former secretary of mine was a young girl there; and what she witnessed was unspeakable.  No human being should ever go through that, she told me, yet it is happening again, as Putin’s barbarians defy all civilized norms.

And all of this is occurring as the world slowly recovers from China’s deadly Coronavirus pandemic and its lockdowns, which have killed or injured millions, physically, economically and mentally.  Not satisfied, the Chinese huns in Beijing are threatening war unless the United States and the West acquiesce to their demands regarding Taiwan and the Pacific.[4]  As if this was not enough, Putin even threatens the Arctic[5], in addition to unleashing a nuclear war.

None of the catastrophes overshadow the possibility of nation-ending EMP attacks, which might kill millions.[6]  Is this pure and unadulterated madness?  Of course it is.[7]  And it is occurring at a time in history when the United States is leaderless, and perhaps more divided than at anytime since the Vietnam War.  We have a President who can barely utter a complete thought, and who may have been mentally impaired after at least two brain operations.[8]  And we have a Vice President standing in the wings and waiting for him to “croak,” who was a former ho.[9]

Also, illegal aliens (including human traffickers and members of drug cartels) have been flooding across our borders, unobstructed.  Crime has been spiraling out of control because our police have been targeted by the thugs, slugs, hoods and mongrels of “Black Lives Matter,” Antifa and other far-Left groups, which have burned our cities and destroyed black and other businesses.  Prices for gasoline and other commodities have reached stratospheric levels, and are expected to climb even higher, because America’s eco-Nazis have sought to curtail or destroy our oil production and independence.  And shortages of vital goods exist.

The United States has been weakened at a critical time in history when we as Americans—of all colors, ethnicities, religious beliefs and economic levels—can ill afford it.  Needless to say, this whets the appetites of our enemies, and is what they have been planning carefully for years.  Our automobile sales lots are empty because of the shortage of chips and other essential parts.  Our laptops and many cellphones are made in China; and if Chinese products were removed from the shelves of Walmart stores, they would be decimated.

The game of chess is won by those who plan ahead, and advance methodically from move to move, and from “check” to “checkmate.”  Right now it can be argued that China and Russia are moving ever so close to having us in “check,” by crippling our great nation.  Their next move would be “checkmate,” which would destroy our lives as we have known them.  Only by waking up now, and realizing fully the perils we face, can we avoid a catastrophic end that none of us ever thought would be possible.

The Government That Governs Least Governs Best

9 06 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Government at all levels of America is a vast wasteland of tragic inefficiency and incompetence. People are paid relatively large sums of money to do nothing—or even worse, to screw things up. The Coronavirus pandemic lockdowns have underscored that fact. Many government workers stayed home and did essentially nothing for long periods of time; and some are still doing that.

When I worked in the Pentagon during the height of the Vietnam War, it was affectionately referred to as “Fort Fumble” by many who worked there. The feeling was that the only reason we had survived as a nation was that our enemies were more incompetent than we were. The fact is that JFK-Robert McNamara-Lyndon Johnson’s War never should have been fought in the first place.

Approximately 55,000 Americans died for nothing, and some were my friends. Many more were maimed for life, physically and mentally. Fast forward to George W. Bush’s Afghan and Iraq Wars, and the pattern was repeated. But incompetence spreads across all levels of government, from the highest federal departments in Washington, D.C., to the local offices of the Social Security Administration and other federal agencies, to the offices of the lowest levels of state and local governments.

Government does not work, period. The FBI and Department of Justice are corrupt, and routinely manipulated for political purposes.[2] Indeed, the coin of the realm in Washington and elsewhere for lawyers and lobbyists is their ability to influence and obtain results. In the process, they provide prostitutes or simply young girls who are trying to climb the social ladder of Washington and other power centers—including the lowest levels.[3]

None of this would constitute the tragedy that it is if Russia’s KGB-trained killer Vladimir Putin was not threatening nuclear war if he does not get his way in Ukraine and beyond; and if China was not poised to invade Taiwan, and move elsewhere in the world.  Americans cannot afford to have a leadership vacuum, with its layers of government performing at less than is possible—and World War III possibly staring us in the face.

The Slaughter At Uvalde, Texas

27 05 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

At the moment, the attention of Americans and others around the world is focused on the small town of Uvalde, Texas[2], where young students and others were slain by a single unhinged gunman.  All of the facts are not crystal clear yet, including whether and how the massacre could have been prevented.  Blame is being thrown around; and typically some are trying to exploit it for their own political gains.  Since national elections will occur in November, which may alter the direction of our great nation, demagogues are in abundant supply.[3]

People in other countries question why the United States is beset by such unspeakable violence again and again.  Some cite almost 400 million firearms in the possession of Americans today.  Others cite the inability to spot and deal with mental health problems.  Others cite the attacks on our police and other members of law enforcement, as making them reticent to put their own lives on the line.

The shooter was 18 years old; and he shot his own grandmother in the face before beginning his rampage.  How did he obtain and learn how to use his arsenal of weaponry; and how did he afford it and hide it?  The hero was an off-duty border patrol agent, who was getting a haircut when his wife texted him, saying there was an active shooter at the school where she teaches, and which their 8-year-old daughter attends.  Borrowing a weapon from his barber, he went to the school, and the rest is history.[4]

Violence and deaths are in the news each and every day, globally.  Russia’s Vladimir Putin launched his vicious war against Ukraine recently, with no end in sight.  China’s deadly Coronavirus pandemic is resurgent again, with the latest variants overriding vaccines and their boosters; and China is threatening Taiwan.  North Korea’s Kim Jong-un is testing devastating weapons; and the list goes on and on.  Our churches are targeted; and at times one wonders where God is, in the midst of so much chaos.  The answer is: here, there and everywhere.[5]
