When A Publishing Company Masquerades As A Christian Church, Its Fraud Must Be Exposed And It Must Be Boycotted

3 02 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Christianity is the largest religion in the world[2], but it is under attack, perhaps like never before.  At a time in human history when so many Americans and others are dying and suffering globally, hope is needed more than ever, each and every day.

Churches and other places of worship have been closed by the Coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.  And just when some modicum of normality seemed to be returning, the Omicron variant or mutation emerged, with other mutations being possible in the future.[3]

Fully-vaccinated individuals are dying from the virus’ effects.  Healthcare facilities are overwhelmed, as workers call in sick, while others take early retirements.  And routine operations are being canceled.[4]

As if this were not enough, inflation is rampant and adding to the ranks of homelessness[5]; devastating wars are possible[6]; and depression and other mental challenges seem overwhelming.  If there was ever a time to seek God or one’s Higher Power, now is it.[7]

Yet, one American publishing company is masquerading as a Christian Church, which is fraudulent and an abomination unto itself.  Instead, of helping Americans and others, Unity[8] portrays itself on Facebook as a “Nondenominational Church,” when in fact it is nothing more than a for-profit business entity.

Almost 100 years ago, my family began reading Unity’s Daily Word and its uplifting, inspiring messages. For years, I gave subscriptions to others.  Today, Unity publishes a vast array of products, for which it charges money, which is understandable.  But its Daily Word lessons or messages can be offered online for free each day, so those in need of healing or inspiration can find it.

Outright fraud occurs when Unity continues to masquerade as a Christian Church, instead of sharing the Truth that it is nothing more than another greedy capitalist enterprise, which is debasing the teachings of Jesus, and whose linkages to Jesus were presumably lost a long time ago.  To hide the Truth, it censors or deletes the comments of even its subscribers.[9]

[9]  Never did the author contemplate that this article would be necessary.  But Unity was put on notice that it was not serving the poorest among us and those most in need, and it failed to act.  Moreover, it deleted the thoughtful comments of a female subscriber who complained, which was unconscionable.  Hence, it seems inescapable—and tragic—that Unity is run by heathens today who run roughshod over those who find their practices abhorrent.

Lastly, in no way does the author hold himself out as some paragon of virtue, or as a religious zealot.  However, he believes that most Daily Word messages or lessons have value, especially for those who are most in need; and that they should be offered for free online, on a daily basis.  Those who wish to subscribe to Unity’s many written publications are free to do so.

Islamophobia Is Un-American

6 12 2015

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Christianity has 2.2 billion followers. Islam has 1.8 billion followers. At most, Judaism has 14 million followers.  There are radical members of each religious group; and Americans cannot allow fear to generate unbridled hatred and anger.[2]  The United States and the American people are not at war with Islam or its followers. Anyone who suggests otherwise is Islamophobic.

Islamophobia does not have any place in the U.S.  Yet, this is exactly what many are preaching today, which is wrong.  Islamophobia is un-American, and inconsistent with Jesus’ teachings as set forth in the New Testament—just as racism, anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination are evil.  Fear spawns hatred, anger and retribution. Too much of it is present in America and other countries.

According to the rhetoric espoused by some people, one might think that they want to kill all followers of Islam, or attack or discriminate against them, which is absurd and evil unto itself.  A large number of Americans are afraid. But their fear is nothing when compared with the fears that were present in the U.S. after 9/11.

We live in difficult and challenging times.[3]  But the terrorist acts of a few cannot be allowed to permeate and change our great nation or the American people.  This is a lesson we learned from World War II.  An estimated 110,000 Japanese-Americans were “interned” at Manzanar in California and at other camps, because of similar fears.[4]

Terrorist attacks have occurred in the U.S. and abroad.  Tragically,  it seems that “terrorism”—in its many forms—will be present for a long time to come.  Kate Steinle was killed brutally in the “sanctuary city” of San Francisco by a known criminal and illegal immigrant.[5]  Oklahoma City was bombed by Timothy McVeigh[6].  More than 900 perished in the religious cult of Jim Jones.[7]  Mass killings occurred recently in Paris[8] and San Bernardino, California[9].  And the list goes on and on.

Large numbers of Americans tune out Barack Obama because of their frustrations, anger and disgust.  Indeed, there is enormous venom with respect to the followers of Islam and him—as well as outright racism—which appears on Web sites in the U.S. and abroad.  Often, violent statements and actions are directed at both.[10]

This is not the American way.
