Is Trump Driving A Wedge Through The Democratic Party?

17 07 2019

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

There are reasons to believe that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and the other members of their “Squad” may cost the Democratic Party both the presidency and the Congress in 2020.  And neither of them may be reelected.[2]

Pat Buchanan—an adviser to Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford, and a former GOP presidential aspirant himself—has written an article entitled “Trump Fuels a Tribal War in Nancy’s House”:

President Donald Trump’s playground taunt Sunday that “the Squad” of four new radical liberal House Democrats, all women of color, should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came,” dominated Monday morning’s headlines.

Yet those headlines smothered the deeper story.

The Democrats are today using language to describe their own leaders that is similar to the language of the 1960s radicals who denounced Democratic segregationist governors like Ross Barnett and George Wallace.

Consider what the four women have been saying.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has accused Speaker Nancy Pelosi of attacking “newly elected women of color.” Was she calling Pelosi a “racist”?

“No!” protested AOC. But it sure sounded like it.

AOC’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti attacked Native American Rep. Sharice Davids for her vote on a Pelosi-backed bill that sent $4.6 billion in aid to the border but lacked the restrictions on Trump policies progressives had demanded.

Chakrabarti described Davids’ vote as “showing her … enable a racist system,” adding that some Democrats “seem hell bent to do to black and brown people what the old Southern Democrats did in the ’40s.”

The House Democratic Caucus ripped Chakrabarti, “Who is this guy and why is he explicitly singling out a Native American woman of color?”

At a Netroots Nation conference this weekend, African American Rep. Ayanna Pressley declared: “We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. … We don’t need any more black faces that don’t want to be a black voice.”

This comes close to calling members of the Black Caucus “Uncle Toms.”

Monday, the president doubled down, tweeting:

“We all know that AOC and this crowd are a bunch of Communists, they hate Israel, they hate our own Country, they’re calling the guards along our Border (the Border Patrol Agents) Concentration Camp Guards, they accuse people who support Israel as doing it for the Benjamin’s”

The “Benjamins” recalls the accusation of Somali-born Ilhan Omar of Minnesota that the Israel Lobby buys the votes of members of Congress. “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.”

Rashida Tlaib of Michigan is the other congresswoman in Trump’s sights. Together, the four have achieved a prominence that almost exceeds that of Majority Leader Steny Hoyer or Majority Whip James Clyburn.

The four — AOC, Tlaib, Pressley, Omar — have no clout in the Democratic caucus. But because of the confrontations they have caused and the controversy they have created, they have a massive media following.

Paradoxically, their interests in winning cheers as the fighting arm of the Democratic Party coincide with the interests of Donald Trump. He entertains and energizes his base by answering in kind their attacks on him and by adopting incendiary rhetoric of his own. He is now assuming the old “America! Love it or Leave it!” stance in going after the four women as anti-American ingrates.

They, by calling Trump a criminal, racist and fascist for whom impeachment proceedings should have begun months ago, elate and energize the outraged left of their party.

Among the presidential candidates, some have begun to side with the four, with Bernie Sanders saying Pelosi has been “a little” too tough on them.

On “Meet the Press,” Bernie added: “You cannot ignore the young people of this country who are passionate about economic and racial and social and environmental justice. You’ve got to bring them in, not alienate them.”

Trump’s Sunday attack forced Pelosi to stand with her severest critics, and she re-elevated the race issue with this tweet: “When Trump tells four American Congresswomen to go back to their countries, he reaffirms his plan to ‘Make America Great Again’ has always been about making America white again.”

Do Democrats believe that refighting the racial battles of the 1960s that were thought to have been resolved is a winning hand in 2020?

Does Pelosi think that demeaning white America is going to rally white or minority Americans to Democratic banners?

The race issue had already arisen in the first debate when Sen. Kamala Harris called out front-runner Joe Biden for befriending segregationist Senate colleagues in the ’70s and ’80s, and for colluding with them to block court-ordered busing to achieve racial balance in the public schools.

Observing the clash between Trump and these women, the rank and file of the Democratic Party are being forced to take sides. Many will inevitably side with the fighters, as Democratic moderates appear timid and tepid.

Trump is driving a wedge right through the Democratic Party, between its moderate and militant wings. With his attacks over the last 48 hours, Trump has signaled whom he prefers as his opponent in 2020. It is not Biden; it is “the Squad.”

Sunday, Pelosi recited again her mantra, “Diversity is our strength; unity is our power.” It sounded less like a proclamation than a plea.

We see the diversity. Where is the unity?[3]

Next, new documents revisit questions about Omar’s marriage history.[4]  Will she be indicted, convicted, imprisoned and/or deported?

Clearly, there are massive racial divisions in the United States today, which were brought to us and fostered by the most racist, treasonous, un-American, anti-Semitic president in our history, Barack Obama.  If anyone has any doubts whatsoever, please read his book, “Dreams from My Father.”

His racist, fundamentally un-American beliefs are set forth there in his own words, and they are worth reading again and again—to remind each of us how we got to this racial divide.  Indeed, this blog began with an article that summarized the book, with direct quotes and page cites.[5]  But his treasonous presidential conduct has been on even fuller display, with his attempts to destroy the candidacy and then the presidency of Donald Trump.[6]

In the event that Obama and the four fascist congresspersons missed it, America is white, whether they like it or not.  And blacks, or African-Americans are in the distinct minority, having been surpassed by Hispanic-Americans, or those with Hispanic heritages.[7]  As I have written:

As a whole, African-Americans are the last hired and the first fired, except in government.

Other ethnic groups have come to our shores, but America’s blacks remain at the bottom of the totem pole, while the more recent arrivals climb above them (e.g., those of Mexican or Hispanic heritage, Asian Americans).

America’s first and perhaps last “Affirmative Action” president has only made their conditions worse.[8]

However, as I said in an interview ten years ago:

I believe in this country, and I believe in Americans of all colors, faiths and backgrounds. The United States is the only true melting pot in the world, with its populace representing a United Nations of the world’s peoples. Yes, we fight and we even discriminate, but when times are tough—like after 9/11—we come together as one nation, which makes this country so great and special. Also, all of us or our ancestors came here from somewhere else. Even the American Indians are descended from those who crossed the Bering Strait—or the “Bering land bridge”—according to anthropologists.[9]

Should Ilhan Omar Be Imprisoned Or Deported? [UPDATED]

As stated in the article above:

[N]ew documents revisit questions about Omar’s marriage history. Will she be indicted, convicted, imprisoned and/or deported [for immigration fraud]?

Indeed, Ross Ibbetson has reported for the UK’s Daily Mail:

A photo has emerged that appears to show Ilhan Omar with both her first and second husbands, after Donald Trump hinted she married her brother.

Trump caused uproar yesterday when he repeated an accusation that the Democrat Congresswoman’s second marriage was to her sibling.

The controversial photo first appeared on a Somali forum in 2016 that made the claim that she was in a fraternal marriage. It was taken in London according to the Instagram caption.

The post says: ‘He (Omar’s second husband) arrived in the United States in 2008. As soon as Ilhan Omar married him he started university at her alma mater North Dakota State University where he graduated in 2012.

‘Shortly thereafter he moved to Minneapolis where he was living in a public housing complex and later evicted. He then returned to the United Kingdom where he now lives.’

Today Omar’s second husband Ahmed Nur Said Elmi posted a picture soaking up the view at sunny Nyali Beach Resort in Mombasa Kenya.

He is at the center of the explosive rumor of bigamy and inter-familial marriage which Omar has called an Islamophobic slur.

Elmi is a freelance copywriter and fashionista who has written adverts for Valentino handbags, No7 and L’Oreal cosmetics.

He has also written for Esquire magazine – one article about the Reading and Leeds music festivals and another about Parkland, a film starring Zac Efron.

He attended Middlesex University’s film school and the North Dakota State University, according to his Linkedin profile.

Her conjugal arrangements are baffling in large part because she has failed to fully explain an apparent overlap in her unions to Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi (her first and current husband) and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi (her second and ex-husband).

‘Well there’s a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother,’ Trump said on the White House lawn. ‘I know nothing about it, I hear that she was married to her brother … I don’t know but I’m sure that somebody would be looking at that.’

When she married her second husband, a British national who had just arrived in the U.S., legal documents appear to show she was still living with her first husband.

And the trio all reportedly went off to live together in Fargo while Omar and her second husband were studying at the University of North Dakota.

It also appears that Omar’s father Nur Said Elmi Mohamed has the same name as her second husband’s father. He attended Arlington Senior High School in Minnesota and multiple former classmates say that is also the name of his father.

She has furiously dismissed claims she married her brother as ‘baseless, absurd rumors’ and accused journalists of Islamophobia.

However, she has remained evasive on the details surrounding her marriages and a campaign email obtained by the Spectator from her spokesman Ben Goldfarb shows his frustration in trying to get her out of a hole.

‘Having no [sic] tried to write a statement multiple times that says, “I’m not legally married to two people but I am legally married to one and culturally married to another”, I think it’s impossible.’ Goldfarb writes.

She says she married Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi in 2002 in a shariah ceremony. No marriage certificate was signed and after having two children they divorced in 2008.

Within a year she had married a British-Somalian, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in a suburban Minnesota registry.

The clinical ceremony – in contrast to her previous shariah wedding – was conducted by a Christian minister Wilecia Harris. This would seem at odds with Omar’s proud faith tradition.

According to Omar, her second husband went back to the UK in 2011 after another Islamic divorce and the following year she had a third child with her first husband.

Omar has refused to comment on when and how she met the British citizen or how they became married so soon after her separation from Hirsi.

The Congresswoman has claimed that she married Elmi after she and Hirsi reached ‘an impasse in our life together.’

However, this appears to be rubbished by legal documents uncovered by the Washington Examiner which show she was still living with her first husband.

Public records show that Omar was living with Hirsi at a home in the Cedar Riverside area of Minneapolis in 2009 – the year she wed her second husband and two years before she says she re-united with Hirsi.

Furthermore, the Spectator report Omar’s first husband went to live with the pair in Fargo where she and her new husband were studying at North Dakota State University.

Her second husband moved back to London after they had a shariah divorce in 2011, according to Omar.

However, social media posts circulating on Alpha News appear to show that he had remained in Minnesota into late 2012.

That year she had her third child with her first husband and they were re-united in another Islamic wedding.

The explosive claims were blown wide open during a Minnesota Campaign and Public Disclosure Board investigation into her campaign finances which revealed in 2014 and 2015 she filed tax returns with her husband as Hirsi, while she was legally married to Elmi.

She did not legally divorce Elmi until 2017. She legally married Hirsi early in 2018, just one month after divorcing her second husband.

She claims the reason for her belated divorce was because she was unable to get in contact with him after he returned to the UK.

However, social media postings uncovered by the Spectator appear to show she was in contact with her second husband and she had visited London in 2014.

In posts which were screen-grabbed from the Somalian forum where the rumor appears to have started, Omar is seen posing with Elmi in the British capital.

Not only that, but others have claimed that her first husband can also be seen with the group in London.

Elmi rapidly shutdown all of his social media accounts earlier today. Omar was entirely absent from them.

‘I am legally married to one and culturally to another’: How Ilhan Omar desperately tried to shut down rumors she married her BROTHER amid evidence she never really split up from her first husband she married in sharia ceremony

By Cockburn for The Spectator USA

This article first appeared in The Spectator USA on June 24, 2019.

Omar supplied this email to the Minnesota Campaign and Public Disclosure Board’s investigation into her campaign financing. That investigation concluded on June 6 by ordering Omar to refund $3,500 in misused campaign funds, and to pay a $500 fine. It also revealed that in 2014 and 2015, Omar may have broken federal and state law by filing a joint tax return with her husband Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi — when she was married to another man.

When conservative journalists in Minnesota raised the bigamy allegations in 2016, Omar issued a statement calling the allegations ‘baseless, absurd rumors’ and issued a statement accusing the journalists of ‘Islamophobia’. Her statement was taken verbatim from Goldfarb’s email. That same email appears to admit that the allegations are not without basis. Goldfarb describes how he tried to construct a denial based on ‘real background information’, but found it ‘impossible’:

‘…we are probably in a position where giving real background information is helpful in tying this up. That said, having no tried to write a statement multiple times that says, ‘I’m not legally married to two people but I am legally married to one and culturally married to another’, I think it’s impossible without making it even more confusing.’

Here’s the real background information about Omar’s ‘confusing’ marital history, in her own words. In 2016, Omar told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that she had married Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi (Husband 1) in their Muslim ‘faith tradition’ in 2002, and that after having two children, they divorced in their ‘faith tradition’ in 2008. No marriage certificate was issued, and there is no documentary evidence for the divorce.

In 2009, Omar married a Somali immigrant to Britain named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi (Husband 2) in a wedding in an unglamorous suburban state registry. The officiator was a Christian minister named Wilecia Harris, now a pastor at the Great and Mighty Works Ministries in Richfield, Minn.

It’s possible that Wilecia Harris might have performed only a civil ceremony, which would suffice under Minnesota law. It’s possible that Omar and Elmi didn’t know the officiant was a Christian minister. Still, given that Omar was and is a proponent of her ‘faith tradition’, it’s strange that she seems not to have consecrated her second marriage according to Islamic law or Somali tradition. The full certificate also shows that, despite Omar’s ‘faith tradition’, the couple seem to have been cohabiting before their marriage

Omar refuses to answer questions as to when and how she happened to meet a British subject, or why she married him so soon after separating from the father of her children. Then again, she didn’t separate that much from Husband 1. Documents released on Monday seem to show that she and Husband 1 were living together in Minneapolis at the time of her marriage to Husband 2. And when Omar and Husband 2 went to college in Fargo at North Dakota State University, Husband 1 came too. That must have made for some awkward silences at the breakfast table.

According to Omar, Husband 2 went back to London in 2011 after a ‘faith-based’ divorce. But according to Alpha News, screenshots from Husband 2’s social media show him living in Minneapolis as late as August 2012. In the same year, she had a third child with Husband 1 and turned Husband 1 into Husband 3 with, she has claimed, another ‘faith tradition’ marriage. Regardless of the ‘faith tradition’ divorce from Husband 2, she was still legally married to him in civil law. Unwittingly or not, she was, as Ben Goldfarb admitted in 2016, now married to two people at the same time.

Omar has sworn that she didn’t legally divorce Husband 2 until 2017 because she couldn’t get in touch with him. Apart from being an admission that she knew she was still legally married to him when she made her second ‘faith tradition’ marriage with Husband 1 and 3 in 2012, this is implausible. Now-deleted postings appear to show that Omar went to London in 2014, and that she and Elmi (Husband 2) were in touch on social media. And this week, new evidence discovered by investigative journalist David Steinberg appears to show that Husband 2 was in Nairobi from December 2012 — and that he was in contact with Omar’s sister.

The nature of Omar’s relationship to Husband 2 is clouded by as-yet unsubstantiated allegations of double marriage and immigration fraud, which Omar has consistently denied. In 2016, an anonymous writer posted photos on a Somali site alleging that Husband 2 is Omar’s brother. The post and a cached copy have both been deleted, and Spectator USA cannot verify them independently, but Scott Johnson of Powerline took copies.

The posting includes photographs that appear to disprove Omar’s claim that she couldn’t divorce Husband 2 because she didn’t know where he was. The posting also claims that Husband 2 refers on social media to Omar children by Husband 1 & 3 as his ‘nieces and nephews’, that his and Omar’s father is called Nur Said Omar, and that her marriage to Husband 2 was false and bigamous:

‘A look at her social media accounts proves that at no point were her and Ahmed Hirsi [Husband 1 and 3] living apart,’ the anonymous poster to Somali Spot wrote, ‘nor was she ever in any other relationship. They have always been a couple, even when she was legally married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi [Husband 2].’ On Sunday, the Washington Examiner published what it described as ‘dozens of documents’ proving, the Examiner claims, that Omar was living with Husband 1 (Hirsi) while married to Husband 2 (Elmi).

Records already unearthed by David Steinberg appear to confirm that one ‘Ahmed N. Elmi’ studied at Arlington Senior High School in St Paul, MN. This Ahmed N. Elmi has the same birth date as the ‘Ahmed N. Elmi’ listed on Ilhan Omar’s marriage certificate of 2008 and divorce papers of 2017. Several of his classmates confirmed to Steinberg that the father of Ahmed N. Elmi the high schooler was called Nur Said Elmi Mohamed — the same name as a name used by Ilhan Omar’s father.

Questioned by Alpha News, Husband 2 in London didn’t deny that he had attended high school in St Paul, MN. Meanwhile, his online profile included his degree from North Dakota State University. So there can be no doubt that Ahmed Elmi the high schooler is the same Ahmed Elmi who married Ilhan Omar — and who now claims not to know her at all.

It’s impossible to read this mounting pile of credible evidence without wondering if Ilhan Omar was, perhaps unknowingly, implicated in education and immigration fraud, and whether, perhaps unknowingly, she was married to two men at the same time. So Cockburn can understand why questions have been raised about Omar’s domestic arrangements by investigators like Scott Johnson of Powerline; Preya Samsundar (now a GOP strategist) and Christine Baumann, formerly of Alpha News; and David Steinberg, formerly of PJ Media.

Cockburn can’t understand why Omar refuses to engage directly with these accusations of immigration fraud. For three years, websites have implied that she knowingly entered a false and even incestuous marriage, possibly for immigration and educational fraud. If the accusations are false, she could sue for defamation. Instead, she pretends that the accusations don’t exist — just as she pretends not to hear questions about her Minneapolis ward being a hotspot of terrorist recruitment. But they do exist, and the emails and documents Cockburn has seen suggest that Omar and her team know that at least some of the accusations may be true.

Cockburn also fails to understand why Minneapolis’s leading paper, the Star-Tribune (the ‘Strib’), was so slow to investigate this mountain of evidence. Which brings us back to Ben Goldfarb’s email of August 2016. Goldfarb advised Omar’s team how to dissuade a local reporter from digging into Omar’s story:

‘Someone should reach out to talk off the record [with Olson] and shut it down with him as we do with the Strib.’

Omar’s campaign finance irregularities — and perhaps also advance information about further releases of damaging evidence — seem to have woken the Strib from its slumbers. Earlier this month, the editorial board noted that filing false tax returns is against the law. It also described the entire issue as ‘worthy of greater scrutiny’. It certainly is, and one of the questions worthy of scrutiny is why the Strib took so long to address a scandal on its own doorstep, and why it allowed itself to be ‘shut down’ in the first place. As Omar has said, the allegations are a ‘shit show’.

Timeline of Omar’s two marriages:

Marries Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi in a shariah law ceremony. Not accompanied by marriage certificate.

Two children together.

Omar separates from Hirsi in accordance with sharia law after reaching ‘an impasse in our life together.’

Marries Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen of Somali descent, at Minnesota registry.

Documents appear to show she was still living with Hirsi.

Elmi, Hirsi and Omar all reportedly living in Fargo where she and her second husband are studying at North Dakota State University.

Omar and Elmi have shariah divorce and he moves back to London.

Omar and Hirsi are reconciled.

Omar and first husband have a third child.

Omar and second husband Elmi obtain a legal divorce.

Omar and Hirsi are legally married.

The Democrats Are Pure Evil, And They Must Be Crushed

Michael Mathes has written for AFP:

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted Friday she is not squashing efforts to impeach President Donald Trump, as some Democrats took a determined step towards launching an impeachment investigation.

Democrats have struggled to formulate a new battle plan against the Republican president after Robert Mueller’s lackluster testimony before Congress this week failed to reveal a clear path for impeachment.

Pelosi, the top Democrat in Congress, has frustrated some members of her party after signaling she will only move forward with proceedings aimed at ousting the president if there is overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing, and if the divisive move has public support.

“No, I’m not trying to run out the clock,” Pelosi told reporters as members of the House of Representatives left Washington for a six-week summer recess.

“We will proceed when we have what we need to proceed — not one day sooner.”

Some colleagues including House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler wasted no time advancing efforts to obtain potentially damning evidence, a move some Democrats said leaves little doubt the panel has launched an impeachment investigation.

Nadler on Friday filed a petition in federal court seeking grand jury secrets, including witness testimony, that Mueller gathered during his two-year investigation of Russian election interference and possible obstruction of justice by Trump.

“Because Department of Justice policies will not allow prosecution of a sitting president, the US House of Representatives is the only institution of the federal government that can now hold President Trump accountable for these actions,” Nadler said, quoting the legal filing made to Judge Beryl Howell, who supervised the Mueller grand jury.

Attorney General Bill Barr has repeatedly declared that Congress should not have access to the material.

The US Constitution gives Congress the power to remove a president, and Nadler’s filing directly references the possibility of initiating impeachment.

“The House must have access to all the relevant facts, and consider whether to exercise its full Article 1 powers, including a constitutional power of the utmost gravity: recommendation of articles of impeachment,” Nadler said, again quoting the filing.

– ‘Crossing a threshold’ –

Nadler spoke Friday flanked by several members of the powerful Judiciary Committee, including some who considered the court petition a significant step towards an impeachment inquiry.

“We’re now crossing a threshold with this filing,” congresswoman Veronica Escobar said, “and we are now officially entering into an examination of whether or not to recommend the articles of impeachment.”

Without an ironclad case, an impeachment in the Democratic-led House will almost certainly die in the Senate, where Trump’s Republicans hold a 53-47 majority.

While Nadler downplayed any divisions with the speaker, Pelosi doubled down on her position two days after Mueller’s testimony in a performance that Trump branded a disaster for Democrats.

Mueller did not provide camera-friendly soundbites or bombshell revelations, though Democrats say he brought his report’s findings to a broader American audience.

Some 95 Democrats went on record last week supporting impeachment efforts, and a handful more announced their backing after Mueller’s testimony.

Pelosi was unfazed.

“I’m willing to take whatever heat there is to say, the decision will be made in a timely fashion. This isn’t endless,” she said.

“Their advocacy for impeachment only gives me leverage,” she went on, adding: “I have no complaint with what they are doing.”

Lawmakers are running out of time to launch impeachment procedures, given that the 2020 election campaign will kick into full gear within months.

Many of the Democratic candidates in the large presidential field have called for Trump’s removal, including senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris.

See (“Pelosi denies curbing impeachment push as Dems seek grand jury secrets“); see also (“Pelosi: I’m not slow-walking impeachment inquiry. Nadler: It’s ‘in effect’ anyway”) and (“Trump calls Baltimore ‘disgusting … rodent infested mess,’ rips Rep. Calling the district ‘a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,’ Trump tweeted Cummings should spend more time in Baltimore to ‘help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place'”) and (“DEMOCRATS ARE ANTI-SEMITES“)

The racist and anti-Semite Democrats and America’s rabid Left are as evil as any enemy that the United States ever had. They are trying to destroy America; and in turn, they must be crushed, never to rise again from the ashes and dustbin of history.

And yes, lots of us began as Democrats but will never vote for one again.
