Why Are So Many Americans Oblivious To The Pervasive Evil That Is Upon Us, Or Cowed By It?

29 11 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

As expected, the Coronavirus has mutated and will kill even more globally: China’s gift to the world.[2]  There is mass censorship of free speech by public platforms such as Facebook and of course Elon Musk’s tragic Twitter.[3]  Woke madness seems to be everywhere in the United States, Canada and Europe, crippling such former democracies, and alienating them from their citizens.[4]  And targeted killings occur to silence potential truth-tellers.[5]

Once-trusted organs of the American government have been “weaponized” by the evil Left against anyone who would dare to oppose or even question them.[6]  Growing numbers of Americans are alienated from the election process, and believe it is “rigged” against them so why bother to vote.[7]  We have a mentally-challenged criminal as our President, with his possible successor being a disgrace at best, at a time in our history when the march toward another world war and chaos is frightening.[8]

We have a legal system that favors criminals over the police, abortions over life, and is populated by judges who distort the system at every turn.  Crime seems to be omnipresent; killer drugs such as Fentanyl take a staggering toll; and our police are shackled and ridiculed at a time when they are needed the most.[9]  Eco-Nazis have so distorted our lives that we are buying oil from our adversaries, when we were essentially energy-independent a short while ago.[10]

Madness and instability seem to reign, instead of order and rationality.[11]  Once-trusted groups such as the Boy Scouts and our churches are maligned at every turn, leaving vast numbers of Americans with a sense of disorder, despair and insecurity at a time when order and stability are needed the most.  Godlessness is promoted; and the “freaks of nature” are everywhere, distorting all that they touch—and that we hold dear.  It’s as if the inmates are running the asylum.

The United States is ridiculed if not hated by many around the world, yet our southern border is so porous that men, women and children are trying to come here from the countries of the world.  And having crossed the border, or having been brought here by human traffickers, they are often treated far better than the growing ranks of our homeless, who struggle to stay alive each and every day.[12]

Amidst so much seeming chaos and irrationality—heightened by the Coronavirus pandemic—Americans are divided like never before, except during our Civil War and in the wake of the Vietnam War.  Perhaps unrecognized and unanticipated in our body politics is that slim sliver of hope; namely, a faith in the future and trust in a Higher Power that is guiding us through the minefields and seeming insanity of the world in which we live.[13]

Woke Madness Reigns In California

24 11 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

California is a beautiful state in which some of us were born and raised—and have loved all of our lives, even when our journeys have taken us elsewhere.  Many of us attended its colleges, and worked there; and have traveled the state from its northern border with Oregon to Mexico in the south.

Years ago, we were charmed by its Spanish and Mexican heritages, traditions and cultures; and by the Chumash and other Indian tribes who lived and fished along its coast, and traveled inland to farm.  The lovely Mission San Antonio de Padua is an example of these historic roots.[2]

Today the state is polluted by woke ideology that is destroying it.  The latest example involves the banning of all gas and diesel truck fleets, which is patently absurd.[3]  Truckers are just recovering from the damaging effects of the Coronavirus pandemic on their work, followed by high fuel prices.  Yet, the totally-woke and despicable eco-Nazis want to hurt them even more.

Truck stops should be open, but they are closed on Highway 101 in Central California where they are needed most to give drivers much-needed rests while they are away from their homes and families.  And the height of woke madness is that a nuclear power plant along the coast was scheduled to be shut down, but it is now being given a new lease on life because it is considered essential to meet existing and future energy needs.[4]

With water being critical to the state’s agricultural and everyday needs, desalination plants have opened and closed, next to the Pacific Ocean, which constitutes more madness.[5]  And then there are the issues of crime and homelessness, which are rampant in the state.[6]  Ultimately the word “woke” seems to be inextricably linked to and synonymous with the word “wackos,” and correctly so.

Woke Californians Encourage Mountain Lions To Kill Residents

6 05 2022

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Mountain Lions (or Cougars) are not sweet little household pets. They are brutal and savage killers. Yet, California’s woke eco-Nazis—many of whom have never hiked a day in their lives—are wasting more than $87 million to build the “Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing” in Southern California, which is totally irresponsible.[2]

For almost no cost at all, such wild and deadly animals can be caught and released into wilderness areas far from civilization, where they will do no harm.  One example suffices to illustrate the madness of the woke “do-gooders.”

Orange County officials confirmed Friday that a male mountain lion killed and partially ate a lone bicyclist in a wilderness park around noon Thursday.  Four hours later, a female rider was savagely attacked by a mountain lion that was driven off by some other cyclists.

Officials said they were all but certain the same animal committed both attacks, and they were performing tests to determine whether that was the case.

The first victim, Mark Jeffrey Reynolds, 35, a competition cyclist who worked for a sports marketing company, was found dead and partially buried under sand along a quiet stretch of rocky, hilly trail in the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park in Foothill Ranch.

The second rider, Anne Hjelle, 30, a retired Marine who works at a health club, survived after being rescued by four or five other cyclists who pummeled the lion with rocks and even a bicycle, forcing it to flee.  She was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Orange County and was listed in serious condition Friday with wounds that were not life-threatening, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Dr. John Shaver, the trauma physician who treated Hjelle, said at a news conference Friday that she was talking and conscious and that her condition was improving after suffering lacerations on her head, neck, arms and back.

Officials described it as an exceptionally unusual attack by a type of animal that, while savage when provoked, rarely comes near humans and even less frequently attacks humans for food.  But the people who rescued Hjelle and witnessed the encounter said the lion had locked its powerful jaws around her head and was dragging her steadily into the brush before their shouts and battering forced it to release her.

“This was a predatory attack,” said Jim Amormino, the spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. “It’s just so out of the ordinary.”

The lion suspected of being responsible for both attacks, a 2-year-old, 110-pound male—which is not large for an adult—was shot and killed around 8 p.m.  Thursday by two sheriff’s deputies just 40 yards from where the first cyclist’s body had been discovered.  The lion had been spotted by deputies in helicopters using infrared scopes and then was pursued by officers on the ground.

“He was definitely stalking the deputies when he was shot,” said Amormino.  “There’s no doubt that lion was threatening.”

Amormino said that an autopsy had been completed on the first victim, Reynolds, with gruesome conclusions.

“The autopsy concluded that he died from the removal of organs in the chest and abdomen,” said Amormino. “It seems he was partially eaten.”

The lion’s strength also stunned some officials, since it attacked two strong and fit adults and apparently had no problem overpowering them. The lion would have easily killed Hjelle, an Orange County resident, had it not been for several other riders who pulled her away and smashed the lion with rocks.

Debbi Nicholls, a friend of Hjelle who helped in the rescue, burst into tears at a news conference Friday as she described a terrifying encounter.  She said she rounded a curve on the trail after hearing Hjelle’s screams.  She said the lion was already on top of Hjelle and had almost her entire head in its mouth. Hjelle’s biking helmet, Nicholls said, might have helped save her.

Nicholls added that Hjelle was conscious throughout the attack, even as other cyclists began to batter the animal to drive it away.

“This guy would not let go,” Nicholls said of the lion. “He had ahold of her face.”

The encroachment of suburbs into wilderness areas has pushed the lions into closer contact with people, making hunting more difficult. The park in which the attacks occurred, in the southern end of the county, is a mere 1,600 acres. The attacks occurred only about half a mile from the closest homes.

Steve Eppley, a resident of the area and a frequent bike rider in the park, said it is a popular spot among mountain bikers and trail runners because of its easy access and challenging terrain.

He said Hjelle was part of a loose-knit group called the Trail Angels that regularly rode in the park.  Signs warning about mountain lions are posted in the park.

In what officials said was an apparent coincidence, an 80-pound female mountain lion was hit by a car and killed late Thursday night about three miles away from the attacks.  Amormino said that lion also was undergoing testing to determine whether it might have been involved in the attacks. He said that was unlikely, since the lions tend to hunt and live far apart from each other.

He said forensic tests on the male lion were under way to make certain it was the animal that attacked the two cyclists.[3]

At the very least, cameras should record every animal that uses the Wildlife Crossing.  And every potential “killer” should be tagged so that if a human being is harmed in any way, one or more multi-million-dollar lawsuits can be brought against everyone and every entity that contributed to this madness.

California Is A Mess, And Its State Bar Remains The Most Odious Trade Association In America

12 08 2021

  By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Many Americans hate California with a passion, and would not be saddened if it broke off from the Union and drifted out to sea.[2]  There is a recall movement to get rid of its Governor Gavin Newsom, who is related to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.[3]  The state’s two principal cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco, are awash in crime.[4]  And who can forget the killing of Kate Steinle at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf by an illegal alien, who had been released from incarceration multiple times.[5]

I grew up in the suburbs of LA, a mile or so west of the UCLA campus in Westwood; and I have fond memories of those days, and of the public schools that I attended.  Some of my classmates were scions of famous Hollywood and industrial families, or became famous on their own.[6]  Others came from humble beginnings.  Yet, we were all friends.  I was repulsed by the elitism of private schools and private clubs that discriminate.  Today, I have been told that the quality of public school education has deteriorated—even before the Coronavirus pandemic lockdowns[7]—which is sad.

After law school at Berkeley and before relocating to Washington, D.C.—to serve as an Army officer at the Pentagon, and work in the U.S. Senate[8]—I took and passed the arduous California Bar examination on the first try.  I was very proud of that fact.  Yet, for too long to remember, I have been ashamed to be a member of what is surely the most odious trade association of its kind in the United States.[9]  Like so much of California’s body politics, the State Bar of California has been infected from top to bottom, and must be eliminated completely.  It does not serve the best interests of Californians, much less the state’s minorities.[10]

Even more critically, some of its tactics and actions are heavy-handed, vicious, duplicitous and fascist; and the moral equivalents of authoritarian regimes—or Stasi “police state” in their nature, which destroyed countless lives and crushed the human spirit.  In his prescient “Animal Farm,” George Orwell wrote about how all of the animals were equal until the Pigs reigned supreme and subjugated the other animals.[11]

Having been effectively put out of business when Pete Wilson was California’s Governor, the State Bar has come roaring back with a vengeance.[12]  It is worse than ever, trying to suppress legitimate criticism, and free speech and expression.  Each of us must be true to ourselves; and if necessary, fight against such injustices, oppression, and ravenous and rabid abuse—and the “gotcha” or “cancel” culture that is vindictive and engages in “witch hunts” and harassment, to intimidate, silence and destroy Americans.[13]

[13]  The author is very proud of his distinguished career, and his impressive and tangible accomplishments.  For example, he has helped millions of Americans (see, e.g., Timothy D. Naegele Resume-21-8-6).  This may have fueled jealousies at the State Bar.  None of its employees have accomplished anything of significance.  They are a group of pygmies (or Pigs), or insufferable wastrels, all of whom should be fired summarily.  See supra notes 9 & 11.

The fact that these governmental losers and failed civil servants would waste their time contacting the author, when the Coronavirus’ “Delta variant” mutation is surging and attacking Los Angeles in particular (see, e.g., supra n.7), speaks volumes about them and the need to justify their existences (and salaries) as State Bar employees in the midst of the pandemic.  How brazen and cowardly, at the very least—pathetic but predictable; heavy-handed thugs who are the moral equivalents of Jimmy Hoffa’s Teamsters, trying to deprive people of their liberties, and carrying out a vendetta against the author for having the gall or chutzpah to ever challenge them.

Contrariwise, the author has never been accused of malpractice; and he has always done his very best.  In retrospect, he might not have represented and tried to help Californians in an Internet fraud lawsuit against Guthy-Renker.  Even though he proved fraud, a now-retired and incompetent U.S. District Judge (who is attempting to find work as an arbitrator) decided against his clients in 2002, almost 20 years ago; and they came after him.

First, they did so criminally by persuading the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. to bring an 11-count federal indictment against him.  Because he had done nothing wrong, he was vindicated completely in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  See Case 1:05-cr-00151-PLF; PACER Docket Sheet entry 301 (“It is hereby ORDERED that the defendant, Timothy D. Naegele, is acquitted, discharged, and any bond exonerated”); see also https://naegeleblog.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/the-united-states-department-of-injustice/ (“The United States Department of Injustice”)

Not satisfied, his former clients sought recourse civilly in California.  Indeed, California arbitrators and its courts were only too happy to oblige, inter alia, ignoring binding law nationally in the process.  Next, the former clients sought his disbarment in California, essentially for having lost their civil lawsuit against Guthy-Renker.  This sends a chilling message loud and clear to every California lawyer or would-be lawyer that the loss of one lawsuit can destroy or tarnish an otherwise-successful legal career.

Given the arduous path that must be taken to become a lawyer, clearly the profession is not worth the risks for a myriad of reasons, at least in California.  Many of these issues are discussed in greater depth and detail in the author’s previous article about the State Bar, which has been read by more than 10,000.  See supra n.9; see also https://news.bloomberglaw.com/business-and-practice/devastating-anxiety-as-remote-bar-exam-tech-crashes-again (“‘Devastating’ Anxiety as Remote Bar Exam Tech Crashes Again”) and https://www.wsj.com/articles/law-school-student-debt-low-salaries-university-miami-11627991855 (“Law School Loses Luster as Debts Mount and Salaries Stagnate”) and https://www.abajournal.com/web/article/technical-problems-again-plague-remote-bar-examinees-who-blame-software-provider (“Technical problems again plague remote bar examinees, who blame software provider”)

Since being admitted to the State Bar in 1966, the author handled very few matters in California, and less than a handful for individual clients.  He is not practicing law in California, nor holding himself out as doing so, but he is attacked and threatened anyway.

Lastly, it appears that the State Bar contacted the author on behalf of:

(1) a disgraced lawyer who had been disbarred by the State Bar because, inter alia, “the State Bar Court noted that she was charged with ’26 counts of professional misconduct for her involvement in a scheme to defraud distressed homeowners, including at least 13 of her clients’—and with ‘pocketing about $177,000 between August 2009 and November 2010 without having to provide any legal services'”;

(2) her California lawyer who suborned perjury with respect to testimony before the State Bar, and his troubled history with the State Bar began before his admission to the Bar (see supra n.9 [note 4 therein & https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-07-25-vw-1012-story.html]), but he has never been disbarred or prosecuted, or held accountable for his abuses;

or (3) their surrogate(s) or agent(s).

Despite repeated requests, the State Bar has refused to disclose and/or confirm such information to the author.  At the very least, this underscores the lawlessness of its employees, who are tantamount to jackals in pursuit of their prey to stay alive . . . and stay employed, while operating from remote locations  (“telecommuting”), “[d]ue to the Covid-19 pandemic.”  They want the author to deny his accomplishments.  It will not happen.

Will Kavanaugh Prove Disastrous For The Democrats?

6 10 2018

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as the newest Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court has sent shock waves through America[2]; and its effects may be most pronounced for the Democrats—who lost.  And yes, lots of us began as Democrats, but will never vote for one again.

Something similar may be true of the Left’s stalwarts who demonstrated across this country, first for Bernie Sander’s candidacy as the Democrats’ nominee for president in 2016—which was co-opted and “buried” by Hillary Clinton and her thugs—and then to defeat Kavanaugh’s confirmation.  They may feel that they were cheated and sold down the river by the Democrats, who failed to deliver . . . again.

The wind may go out of their sails, while the Republicans—and especially the Trump “faithful”—may be energized almost like never before.  “How sweet it is” (they may say or think) that their efforts proved successful, as they did in the 2016 election.  With the U.S. economy seemingly purring along[3], they may be convinced of their righteousness and of the certitude of their actions, which may propel them on to other and even greater victories.

In retrospect, Kavanaugh may have been a flawed candidate, and perhaps even more of a flawed Justice.[4]  What his elevation to the Court may mean—along with Neil Gorsuch before him, and soon the feeble Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s replacement—is that Donald Trump’s political and legal flanks will be protected against the Democrats’ efforts to remove him from the presidency.  If so, then the elevation of a flawed Kavanaugh to the Court will have served its purpose and satisfied Trump’s faithful.[5]

Aside from possibly defusing the Left’s zeal, the Kavanaugh confirmation fight has exposed its underbelly for all Americans to see.  Dianne Feinstein of California was shown to be an ineffectual, lying senator, who had kept a Chinese spy on her staff for approximately 20 years, despite the fact that she was entrusted with the nation’s most sensitive secrets.[6]  Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut was tarnished again for lying about his military service in Vietnam[7]; and the list goes on and on[8].

The Kavanaugh fight may have served another purpose.  It seems to have strengthened the spine of weak-kneed and often pathetic Republican “Neanderthals.”  They rose to the occasion and defeated the onslaught of the Democrats’ lies and normally-astute political skulduggery, which had been so successful in the past.  The departure of the totally-inept and ineffectual Paul Ryan from the House of Representatives may further this progression.[9]

He said the FBI had tried repeatedly to badger him into changing his story on key facts. Each time he refused. . . . Before testifying, he suffered two days of what appeared to be systematic intimidation by a large surveillance team. . . . When Mr Knowlton appeared at the grand jury – thinking he was doing his civic duty – he says he was subjected to two and a half hours of character assassination. . . . There was little attempt to find out what he knew about the Foster death scene. . . . Few people are aware that the US federal prosecutor handling the death investigation at the outset, Miquel Rodriguez, had resigned earlier from the Starr investigation after a bitter dispute. His resignation letter – later leaked [Rodriguez materials] – said he was prevented from pursuing investigative leads, that FBI witness statements did not reflect what witnesses had said, that the suicide verdict was premature, and that his grand jury probe was shut down just as he was beginning to uncover evidence. An informed source told me his work had been sabotaged by his own FBI agents. The nub of the dispute was over compelling evidence of a wound in Foster’s neck, which contradicted the official version that Foster shot himself in the mouth and had essentially been suppressed. The key crime scene photos had vanished and the FBI labs said others were over-exposed and useless. Mr Rodriguez, by then suspicious, slipped them to the Smithsonian Institution and had them enhanced. One showed a black stippled ring like a gunshot wound in the side of Foster’s neck. This remains secret but I have seen it. The photo was pivotal. It confirmed what several people who handled the body had originally stated. I interviewed the first rescue worker on the scene and when I asked him about the mouth wound, he grabbed me, and said with frightening intensity: ‘listen to me buddy, Foster was shot right here,’ jabbing his finger into my neck. He said the FBI had pressured him too into changing his story and that official narrative was a pack of lies”) (see also https://naegeleblog.wordpress.com/2010/09/24/washington-is-sick-and-the-american-people-know-it/#comment-7185 (“Clinton Fatigue”—”[Was Vince] Foster killed at the Clinton’s behest[, and did Brett Kavanaugh participate in the cover-up]?”))

Disasters In Montecito: Get Out Now!

26 03 2018

By Richard Schultz[1]

[Richard Schultz, recently widowed, anticipated a quiet, uneventful winter at his home in Montecito, California.  Instead, he found himself confronted by two terrifying natural disasters—first, The Thomas Fire, the worst in California’s history that burned 273,000 acres and more than 200 homes in Montecito; then, the subsequent mudslides in Montecito, which left 21 people dead and at least two missing.]

My house in Montecito is north of East Mountain Drive, adjacent to the burning Los Padres National Forest. The Sun is obliterated by thick smoke; and the few people who are still on the village streets, wear masks. I don’t want to leave my home. I don’t want any more upheaval in my life.

December 10

Voluntary Evacuation has suddenly turned into Mandatory Evacuation. Five burly firemen from Montecito appear at my house; six more from another fire department join them an hour later. Both groups are happy to see my portable gas-powered pool pump equipment; and they lay it all poolside, with 250 feet of my fire hose in tidy rows.

I put a “carry-on“ bag on my bed and start throwing medicine, checkbooks and some clothing into it.  (I’m not thinking clearly)  I wonder where I should go.

“Go!  Get out now!”  The firemen tell me.

Nothing is said about where to go, what to take, how long I’ll need to be away—just “leave.”

The phone rings.  I debate whether to answer, but I do and find it is an informed friend inviting me to stay with her family for a few days until it is safe to return to my house. The timing of her call is miraculous.  I hastily accept and drive to her home in Santa Barbara.  I stay for one day, two days, ten days . . . thirteen days before I can return home.

December 23

I am afraid to see what is left.  The low plastic lights along the driveway are burned, melted.  Black soot is everywhere.  My house is still there!  It’s dripping wet and smells of smoke: the windows are dirty with soot.  My wide Rosemary hedge and irrigation system along my driveway are burned, lost.  My pool is nearly empty except for a few inches of thick black water in the bottom.

Four men are dismantling nozzle holding metal tripods that were set around the house, and replacing padded porch furniture previously moved away from the house.  One man is taking pictures of my wet house.  I ask, and they tell me they are not firemen; they work for my homeowners insurance company.  The company’s own fire trucks had been on my property, and they had helped the firemen to save my home.

No one can tell me what has happened to my portable pool pump.  I’m not sure that I care at this point.

I go inside to see that upholstered furniture has been moved to the center of the living room.  I see black soot shoe smudges starting at the front door.  I follow them upstairs.

Two bank envelopes full of cash and my .38 caliber pistol are missing.  I wonder why I did not take those with me.

My home is otherwise intact.  I am so grateful I cannot bring myself to complain to the men on the scene.  I thank them all profusely for their efforts to save my home.

January 9

I’m not leaving.

It’s another Mandatory Evacuation, but I’ve told the sheriff I’m going to stick it out at my home.  I know the risk; I know the burned Los Padres hillside behind me has nothing left living to hold the earth and debris in place.  The deluge predicted tonight is expected to cause mudslides.

All of my neighbors within sight have evacuated.  But weary from the fire evacuation, I decide to remove my cars from the garage, and have my gardener help me acquire enough sandbags to protect all of my doors and swimming pool, which I had cleaned and re-filled.  I make a quick trip to the supermarket for a huge load of groceries, and as much drinking water as I can buy.

The raging, powerful rain flood and mudslide came that night as predicted.  The deluge is reported to be brief and noisy, but as a 90-year-old with severe hearing loss, I simply sleep through the entire event.  I wake up to utter silence, and the lack of human motion in Montecito.

This was the beginning of 19 days of sensory deprivation.

That morning I hear no traffic of any kind in Montecito, no sound—it is like a ghost town. Then came my reality: no electricity, no running water, no natural gas, no dial tone, no Internet, no TV, no newspaper, and no mail.  My sole means of communication was my “flip phone”—that is, while my battery lasts.  It is like camping out in luxury shelter with a view.

Two sheriff deputies on patrol find me in my home after several days as a single “holdout.”  They ask me about drinking water; I show them what I have.  They return with a 12-pack of bottled water and a bag of food.  They advise me to evacuate.

My knowledge of what was happening in Montecito and the outside world comes solely from my 4 adult children and close friends, all living in other cities and states, who have my cell phone number.  How long will this last without electricity?

After about a week, the electric flickers on periodically.  I keep my cell phone plugged in and use my electric oven to take the chill off.  I scoop water from my swimming pool for washing and to keep my toilet flushing.

The county sheriff, knowing that I am a hold out, checks in on me every 3 or 4 days, often leaving me with more bottled water and always urging me to evacuate.

Then Montecito begins the slow process of recovering from this double disaster.  Only from my cell phone informants do I learn that the streets and areas most damaged from the mud and debris are to be given priority in the cleanup.  Early on, 2 missing persons are found dead in mud and debris.  My property, adjacent to the National Forest, is high on the foothills making it among the last to be restored.

Along with tree trunks, enormous piles of brush and boulders the size of small cars, large sections of existing water mains and natural gas pipes have not only been exposed, but some are grossly displaced by the mudslide even to distant locations.  All of this results in numerous streets being made impassible. Restoration of utilities will be a slow; a methodical process extending 20-plus days into February.

I am getting cold, running out of fresh food and optimism.  With no human contact, entertainment or direct news, I am beginning to revert to an alternate reality.  I have finished reading 5 new books that were Christmas presents, and am now into my library and “The Life and Works of Vladimir Lenin.”  I find myself starting to reminisce, initially over my wife’s recent death, followed by unresolved childhood, adolescent and adult events.  I am stuck within my own mind.  Could this be “Mindfulness?”  These troubling thoughts are not something I can share with folks on the other end of my cell phone.

January 19

My dial tone finally returns.  I still have no running water, natural gas, Internet, or television.  I have rationed my bottled water wisely, but no fresh food and still no human contact.  For me, Montecito is still silent except for the thumping sounds of overhead helicopters.  My existence is starting to becoming disorienting!

My children and friends report to me by phone about a burst of progress in the restoration of utilities, but with warnings of contamination and safety issues.  Water explosions come in spurts from my open faucets.

January 27

Mandatory Evacuation is lifted.  Though still without natural gas or Internet service, I have survived these two terrible sequential Montecito tragedies.

. . .

Will there be more?

Is Israel Doomed?

31 12 2015

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

I am forever reminded of what a prominent American—who is a Jew and a strong supporter of Israel, and who has written for the Wall Street Journal many times—told me several years ago:

I have long thought that Israel will not make it, if only because of what are cavalierly called WMD [weapons of mass destruction] and its very tight geographical compression. All else is immaterial, including the Palestinians, or us, or the nature of Israel’s [government].

WMDs come in many forms, such as deadly viruses, biological and chemical agents, and of course nuclear and nation-ending EMP attacks.[2]  Neither Israel’s military, its security forces nor its “Iron Dome” can protect against such threats.[3]

The Israeli Apartheid vis-à-vis the Palestinians may have sown the seeds of the tiny Jewish state’s destruction.  Indeed, one prominent Jew has asked about the treatment of Palestinians: “Is this how I wanted to be treated when I was a minority in another people’s country?”

Months and years from now, Benjamin Netanyahu and his ilk will confront the legacy of their crimes against the Palestinians, including an estimated 2,200 deaths in Gaza last year alone.  He has morphed into his ancestors’ Nazi oppressors. He must be tried by the International Criminal Court, and arrested whenever he sets foot outside of Israel.

Barack Obama and other world leaders “detest” him, just as the Rabins and Ariel Sharon hated him. Indeed, Leah Rabin blamed Netanyahu for her husband Yitzhak’s assassination. She saw “only doom for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process” with Netanyahu at Israel’s helm; and her views were prescient.[4]

Each day that Netanyahu remains in power[5] brings Israel closer to its demise, and Jews globally closer to the first holocaust of the 21st Century—which may make the Nazi Holocaust of the last century seem like “child’s play.”  The human carnage might make even mass murderers like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-tung wince.[6]

The massacre and mindless slaughter of Jews—and especially Orthodox Jews—may be coming and might surpass anything that ISIS/ISIL or other global terrorist groups have done thus far.  The rape and enslavement of Jewish women—prior to their brutal torture and death—may make what the Soviets and Japanese did to German women[7] and Korean “comfort women”[8] pale by comparison.

The goal of Israel’s enemies would be to annihilate all Israelis, and then systematically focus on Jews around the world until they are exterminated.[9]  Today, Jews can be targeted globally and there is nothing that Israel or its vaulted Mossad can do to protect them.  This will only get dramatically worse.   Tragically, Jews are the most hated group of human beings on the planet, yet they respond out of fear and anger—and lash out with hatred toward others, including Islamophobia.[10]

American president—and the father of today’s Left—Franklin D. Roosevelt, turned away the MS St. Louis from docking at American ports, and consigned most of the Jewish refugees aboard to their deaths in Europe.[11]  The other anti-Semites in FDR’s administration knew of the Nazi concentration camps, yet did nothing about them.  Soon, the world may turn a “blind eye” to the fate of Israel and global Jewry.[12]

Like the Jews aboard the MS St. Louis, they may be truly on the last “Voyage of the Damned.”[13]

[10]  Jews cowardly try to stifle debate at Web sites, and label anyone who does not agree with Netanyahu, AIPAC and the AIPAC-bought Republican lackeys in Congress as anti-Semites, which of course is absurd.

Labeling people as anti-Semites, much less on a wholesale basis, reverberates to the detriment of Jews, Israel and Israelis. Indeed, Jews are being urged to flee to Israel, as anti-Semitism spreads dramatically in Europe and globally.

See https://naegeleblog.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/ariel-sharon-is-missed/#comment-7039 (“Is Night Falling Again For European Jews?“)

Netanyahu’s critics—Jews and non-Jews alike—are falsely labeled as “Israel haters,” “self-hating Jews” and anti-Semites.

Aside from the traitor Jonathan Pollard, no American should ever forget:

(A) The unprovoked Israeli attack on the USS Liberty, which killed 34 brave Americans and maimed many more (see http://www.gtr5.com); and

(B) The Iraq War, which Israel and its “neocon” surrogates pushed us into—which resulted in thousands of Americans killed or maimed, and vast economic treasures wasted.

And these are only the ones that are generally known.  No friend or ally does this.

Yet, the “Israel Firsters” will leap to its defense as always, claiming that anyone who criticizes the tiny country and its practices is an anti-Semite, including Jews themselves.

Perhaps their most “unhinged” vitriol is reserved for those who believe in Islam—even though Islam has 1.8 billion followers, while at most Judaism has 14 million followers.

Boycott The GOP And Ignore Foreign Naysayers

11 12 2015

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Abraham Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan were great and heroic American leaders, who would be disgusted and saddened with their Republican Party today.  It has deteriorated into a clique of whining, puny “establishment” ciphers like Karl Rove, Mitch McConnell, George Will, Bill Kristol and Peggy Noonan[2]—who have never done anything great or heroic in their collective lifetimes, and are the worst of American politics.

They traffic in fear and implicit hatred of everything that Donald Trump stands for; they have been brutally divisive; and they are doing everything in their power to demonize and block the presidential candidacy of Trump[3], who is leading in the polls[4].  They are the reason why lots of Americans left the GOP years ago, and will never return except to vote for Trump, and only Trump.

If they were to succeed in preventing him from getting the party’s nomination, many Americans would vote for him as an Independent, or literally hold their noses and vote for Hillary Clinton[5], or not vote at all in the general election.  This would effectively “gut” the GOP, like Ross Perot did in 1992.  The American people are angry; and this includes very conservative GOP women, Independents, and Reagan Democrats.

One needs to work on or with Capitol Hill to realize fully how bad both national political parties are.  If one truly cares about our great nation and its future, the rejection of both parties is an easy and necessary decision.  This is why lots of Americans have become Independents[6], and will never become members of either national party again.  These Americans do not care what happens to the GOP.  If it goes down the drain, so be it.  The same is true of the Democratic Party.  Sometime in the not-too-distant future, an Independent will be elected as America’s president.[7]

However, the criticism of Trump is not limited to the Republican party, or the Democrats, but extends abroad as well, in countries such as the UK.[8]  Most Americans do not care what the Brits think about anything, much less our electoral politics.  The country is descending into irrelevancy; and that process will be accelerated when Scotland leaves and the Trident program is canceled[9].  The sheer stupidity of some Brits is mind-boggling though—until it is remembered that the UK might be speaking German now if the U.S. had not been its “salvation” in World War II.

They ridiculed Reagan too.  Lest they forget relatively-recent history, Reagan and George H.W. Bush set their sights on destroying the USSR, and it is gone now, without a shot being fired. The Brits and others in Europe would still be cowering at the feet of the Soviets but for the United States.  How many young kids today have ever heard of the Soviet Union or the USSR, or the Cold War?  Yet, in elementary schools in Los Angeles, as an example, students were taught to hide under their desks and cover their heads, and shield themselves from “falling debris”—stemming from a Soviet nuclear attack.

At some point, Trump and his lovely wife, Melania, may ask: “Do we really need this?”  The answer is clearly “no,” and he might drop out of the race—although hopefully not.  If he does, many Americans will never vote for a GOP candidate again, as retribution.  Perhaps Trump gains satisfaction from “fighting the system,” and trying to make America better, just as Ronald Reagan did before him.  Clearly, the “establishments” of both parties scream and “claw” at those who dare to challenge their power and orthodoxy.  It is like belonging to a private club that discriminates.

Trump is admired by vast numbers of Americans, from all walks of life, just as Reagan was.  Who would have thought that Reagan and Bush could have brought down the USSR’s thoroughly “Evil Empire.”  Russia and its KGB-trained brutal killer and dictator-for-life, Vladimir Putin, must be next.[10]  Reagan truly changed the world, which is why he is deified and “Teflon-coated” today—much to the disgust of the Democrats who hated him, just as they hated Richard Nixon and now Donald Trump.  The Neanderthals in the GOP are too stupid to recognize the parallels.

Like Reagan before him, Trump represents America’s glorious future, not its past.[11]

Islamophobia Is Un-American

6 12 2015

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

Christianity has 2.2 billion followers. Islam has 1.8 billion followers. At most, Judaism has 14 million followers.  There are radical members of each religious group; and Americans cannot allow fear to generate unbridled hatred and anger.[2]  The United States and the American people are not at war with Islam or its followers. Anyone who suggests otherwise is Islamophobic.

Islamophobia does not have any place in the U.S.  Yet, this is exactly what many are preaching today, which is wrong.  Islamophobia is un-American, and inconsistent with Jesus’ teachings as set forth in the New Testament—just as racism, anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination are evil.  Fear spawns hatred, anger and retribution. Too much of it is present in America and other countries.

According to the rhetoric espoused by some people, one might think that they want to kill all followers of Islam, or attack or discriminate against them, which is absurd and evil unto itself.  A large number of Americans are afraid. But their fear is nothing when compared with the fears that were present in the U.S. after 9/11.

We live in difficult and challenging times.[3]  But the terrorist acts of a few cannot be allowed to permeate and change our great nation or the American people.  This is a lesson we learned from World War II.  An estimated 110,000 Japanese-Americans were “interned” at Manzanar in California and at other camps, because of similar fears.[4]

Terrorist attacks have occurred in the U.S. and abroad.  Tragically,  it seems that “terrorism”—in its many forms—will be present for a long time to come.  Kate Steinle was killed brutally in the “sanctuary city” of San Francisco by a known criminal and illegal immigrant.[5]  Oklahoma City was bombed by Timothy McVeigh[6].  More than 900 perished in the religious cult of Jim Jones.[7]  Mass killings occurred recently in Paris[8] and San Bernardino, California[9].  And the list goes on and on.

Large numbers of Americans tune out Barack Obama because of their frustrations, anger and disgust.  Indeed, there is enormous venom with respect to the followers of Islam and him—as well as outright racism—which appears on Web sites in the U.S. and abroad.  Often, violent statements and actions are directed at both.[10]

This is not the American way.

A $34 Trillion Swindle: The Shame Of Global Warming

30 11 2015

 By Timothy D. Naegele[1]

To campaign for so-called man-made “global warming” or “climate change” in Paris—while grief and fear still prevail, pervade and permeate—is insensitive, inhumane, shameful and repulsive.  It is an affront to the memories of those who died or were injured in the attacks on that great city, to all Parisians who have suffered, to the French people, and to the world.[2]

It is cheap and crass politics at its worst.  No wonder a rising number of Americans and people around the world are rejecting government in general, and their own governments in particular.[3]  George Orwell foretold of this madness in his Animal Farm, where the “Pigs” reigned supreme and were masters over—and subjugated—the other animals.[4]

Barack Obama is among the world’s so-called “elites” whose criminal obsession and fanaticism with global warming are threats to civilized life on this planet.  In another time, the proponents of “global warming” would have been members of the “Flat Earth Society,” and claimed a consensus with respect to it too.  So-called man-made “global warming” is a hoax and “The Great Green Con.”

Terrorists roam France, and the global economy teeters closer to the abyss[5], yet the farcical meeting of misguided Lilliputians and charlatans occurs in Paris.  Even if all human beings and other animals were removed from the Earth, there would still be natural cycles of warming and cooling.  Our Earth has gone through such cycles  for millions of years, which will continue long after all of us and our offspring have left this planet.

It has been reported:

(1)  The “COP-21 climate deal in Paris spells [the] end of the fossil era,”

(2)  ”Much of the fossil industry will go into slow run-off while the new plutocrats will be masters of post-carbon technology,”

(3)  ”[T]he fossil fuel industry of coal, gas, and oil could forfeit $34 trillion in revenues over the next quarter century—a quarter of their income—if the Paris accord is followed by a series of tougher reviews every five years to force down the trajectory of CO2 emissions, as proposed by the United Nations and French officials hosting the talks,”

(4)  ”Most fossil companies would face [a] run-off unless they could reinvent themselves as 21st Century post-carbon leaders,” and

(5)  ”Such a scenario would imply the near extinction of the coal industry unless there is a big push for carbon capture and storage. It also implies a near total switch to electric cars, rendering the internal combustion engine obsolete.”[6]

This only tells part of the story with respect to the estimated $34 trillion swindle or transfer of wealth.[7]  A multitude of class-action lawsuits may spring up globally—against the oil, gas and coal industries, and others who would dare to challenge the “global warming” orthodoxy.  Stark and undemocratic intimidation and scare tactics have begun already, with much more draconian measures to follow.

The Obama presidency cannot end quickly enough.  Many Americans view him as a feckless naïf, and a tragic Shakespearean figure who may be forgotten and consigned to the dustheap of history.  His naïveté has been matched by his overarching narcissism; and he is more starry-eyed and “dangerous” than Jimmy Carter.[8]

His presidency is considered already by many Americans as a sad watershed in United States history—by blacks and whites alike.[9], Republicans, Independents and members of his own party.  His “global warming” escapade is consistent with that tragically tarnished legacy.  When the next president takes office, what Obama has done in Paris may be reversed; and the entire “global warming” swindle may come crashing down.
